Losing Weight for Free is The Best Way to Lose Weight!

Welcome to the first blog post on my new today.com blog about losing weight for free. There are literally thousands of products out there telling you that you can lose weight. But the problem with these thousands of lose weight dieting products is that they cost money. Some of them cost a lot of money!

Let’s Take a Look at All The Things You Can Spend Money On to Lose Weight:

Diet Books: There’s tons of diet books out there.  A quick search on the world’s biggest online book seller shows me that there are about 29,000 books available on dieting. If you spend between $10-$20 on a diet book, you could easily spend several hundreds on diet books. The worst thing is, most of these diet books are outdated, unproven, or simply unhealthy.

Diet Ebooks: E-books are like regular books, instead you read them on your computer. They are usually quite a lot more expensive than regular books (which in a way doesn’t make sense - there are no printing/publishing costs!). Usually a diet ebook will cost $49 or so, some more some less, but all of them no better than a less expensive diet book. But really, does  a diet book help you lose weight? Good question, since you’d probably benefit a lot more from putting that book down and just go exercise for a half an hour instead!

Weight Loss Programs: There are about 100 weight loss programs I can think of. They involve everything from having pre-packaged meals to support centers to fitness clubs and more. Most of them cost somewhere between $40-$150 a month upfront just to join, then you also have to account that you have to eat their special foods, such as in programs like the Nutrasystem diet.

Gym Memberships: A gym membership can be a worthwhile investment, but chances are you could get plenty of exercise just by doing an aerobics video on your tv or going for a walk in your neighborhood. Do you really need expensive gym equipment to lose weight? Of course not!

Expensive Gym Equipment: You see the equipment on tv commercials all the time. Models with 6 pack abs telling how it magically transformed their life. Save your money -you will end up spending $300 for an expensive clothes rack if you are not committed to making healthy lifestyle changes and exercising regularly.

Now that I’ve showed you all kinds of ways you can spend money to lose weight, let’s look at some ways you can lose weight for free:

Read Books From The Library: Yup, the library. They have books. And they let you take them home for free. If you see something important in a book you can photocopy it or take notes and only if you really, really like it then you can consider buying it. Chances are this could save you hundreds of dollars alone. Doesn’t everybody somewhere have a stack of diet books they don’t really read?

Videos From the Library: Most libraries now also have videos you can borrow for free. You can find a workout tape and borrow it for a week, and if you decide you like it then you can buy a copy somewhere.

Learning About Nutrition: All you really need to lose weight for free is good nutrition. The FDA has everything online available for free about good nutrition. Why in the world would you spend money to learn something that is freely and publicly available? Not to mention, when you learn about nutrition and how to make healthy food choices, you can continue to use it for the rest of your life. Most weight loss programs don’t teach you anything about nutrition - they just tell you what and what not to eat.
