Should You Give Up Red Meat?
Many people wonder if they should give up red meat as part of their diet. After all, if you look at most diet plans you’ll notice that they are calling for chicken and turkey substitutes. However, this does not mean that you can’t eat red meat at all. In fact, some recent studies have shown that you should be eating red meat once a week because it does have some benefits that you don’t get from other foods. However, you don’t have to eat red meat if you don’t like it or aren’t comfortable with it - there’s plenty of other ways to get protein, even for vegetarians!
If you are craving to grill a steak there is good news: you can eat one! With no guilt! Simply watch your portion sizes, eat it with some vegetables, and go light on the butter and you’re in good shape to enjoy that steak once a week!
You should however, try and avoid ground beef, or limit yourself to only eating the most lean varieties and only once per week. Ground turkey makes a great alternative that has less fat and does not greatly compromise flavor or taste, especially once you get used to it. While eating a steak once a week is fine for just about any diet, eating hamburgers everyday is not the most healthy ways to go about losing weight!
what is in the steak that you can not get otherwise in beans and vegetables?
