Can Diet Help Your Skin?
A lot of people wonder if diet can help you skin. This is a really good question to ask, because your skin is one of your body’s most important organs! You seriously need your skin - because otherwise your guts would fall out. Haha, okay maybe that is partly a joke. I am not a medical doctor or a scientist expert type of person, so I don’t know what would actually happen if you had no skin. But, skin does a lot of important things and our skin every day is exposed to very harsh conditions constantly that can affect our overall health.
Think about all of the things you touch and come into contact each day: the air you breathe, the soap you use, the foods you touch and eat, the clothes you wear - all of it is exposed to your skin. Many of the things we use each day have harsh chemicals in it - even the soap and shampoo and conditioning lotions we use, which is what makes products like natural shea butter so refreshing to use - especially if you are prone to dry and cracked skin.
Many people each day suffer from skin conditions. Because our skin is part of our outward experience, having a skin problem like acne or scars or flaking can really make some people feel self conscious - it’s not just a condition that effects you physically but also has a large impact on you emotionally as well.
People work so hard on using things like creams and expensive treatments at a dermatologists office to help with getting rid of acne scars but don’t always see the results they had hoped for.
The good news is that proper diet can help with battling a lot of skin conditions. Getting enough Vitamins A and E for example can help with the healing process our skin uses every time we get a cut or an abrasion on the surface. It is also believed that foods such as yogurt may also help.
It’s important also to eat naturally. If you read the traditional nutritional label on most food products, what do you see? I know what you see - a lot of words you can barely pronounce. And this is because most of our foods have chemicals and additives in them. Again, how can these things be healthy for you?
If you want to have a healthy lifestyle, and if you want beautiful skin, talking with your doctor is a first good step. With a plan that will help you eat all natural and right and minimize the potential damage you do to your skin, you will be much happier with the results. While diet alone can’t cure most skin conditions, it can do wonders in helping you look and feel your best.
